There is a large variety of underwater rocky landscapes in the vicinity of Diving Center, straits with rapid currents for drift diving and shipwrecks are there as well.
Cape Kindo On this site the depth increases gradually. The relief is represented by a gentle slope reaching 50 – 70 m. Laminaria (and other kelps) belt is very well outlined. Seabed is populated by hermit crabs, crabs, starfishes including cold-water species – Urasterias and Pteraster. One can come across big predatory White Sea gastropod – Neptunea and Bukcinum.
In the vicinity of Krestovi Islands there is a rock overgrown with actinia from genus Metridium and a bank with very beautiful soft corals, actinia and sponges. Here you can meet hermit-crabs, starfish Urasteria and a rarest офиура with exotic name of the Head of Gorgon (Gorgonacephalus). The surface of the bank is 14-18 m. below the sea level. Steep northern slope of the bank goes to the depth of more than 50 m. A gentler southern slope reaches 28 -30 m, the diameter of the bank is about 15 – 20 m. At the same place you will found a shipwreck (a fishing vessel with body length of 12 m) overgrown with ascidia and actinia.
Near Isle Ploshkin at the entrance to Guba Nilmo. at depth of 22 m lies a wreck of fishing vessel “Yaroslavets”. Ship body has a length of 22 m.
Isle Kastyan During your dive you will see a practically vertical wall perfectly lit up by midday sun. You will sea bright actinia and ascidia, gastropods and Nudibranchiata molluscs moving unhurriedly on the rock shelves. Your attention will be drawn to starfishes on the seabed as well as to middle-sized lancet-fishes hiding in the rock slits.
Drift diving is arranged in the Strait of Velikaya Salma close to the islands of Kandalaksha national park. Velocity of tidal current reaches 2 m/s. You will drift over forests of laminaria, багрянка, and colorful sponges, meadows of shell rock overgrown with ascidia and hydroids.
Biofiltry Bay Here you dive near to vertical rocks overlooking picturesque stone blocks, covering the seabed. Here dwell starfishes and ascidia. Some Nudibranchiata, gastropods; bivalve molluscs are to be found here as well. Numerous aquatic animals which filter the sea water has given name to the pace: “bio-filter bay”. Sea currents are practically non-existent in the bay.
Site for training dives. Training dives are carried out near to the Diving Center pier. This is the ideal site to practice dry suite diving techniques and underwater swimming. The seabed here is flat and 7 – 10 m deep. There is no sea current. Despite very smooth and plain relief of the seabed there is a lot of living things to look at – sole, big hermit-crabs, Nudibranchiata molluscs, starfishes, eel-like Pholidae, tittlebat and bullhead
