Transferred to Kem; journey by motorboat to the Solovetsky Islands. Excursion programme on the Solovetsky Islands: Solovetsky Monastery, Zayatsky Island, the dry dock, canals built by hand, Anzer, monastic cells; the fascinating history. You may opt to be accompanied by our guide. Return by train or aeroplane from the islands.
The Solovetski Archipelago offers a combination of unique natural landscape and historical monuments. These include the Solovetski Monastery founded in the XV century AD on the island of Bolshoi Solovetski. Several islands of the Archipelago feature Stone Age monuments (I-II millennia BC) including labyrinths, dolmens, stone kurgans and other Neolithic sites.
We offer two programs
1. Full day Solovetski Archipelago
Provisional program:
Early morning departure from the Arctic Circle Dive Center at 05:00–06:00 hours (5–6am). After 3-hour car transfer to Kem you will board a motorboat at 09:00 hours (9am) and set course for Solovetski Archipelago. At 11:00 hours (11am) you will disembark at Bolshoi Sosovetski Island. The trip will include:
- an excursion to the monastery
- lunch in a local restaurant
- further sightseeing of Solovetski Monastery.
At 17:00 hours (5pm) the boat leaves for the return trip, with the car transfer from Kem arriving back at the dive centre at 2200 hours (10pm).
2. Two day Solovetski Archipelago
Provisional program:
Day 1 Early morning departure from the Arctic Circle Dive Center 0500–0600 hours (5–6am). After 3-hour car transfer to Kem you will board a motor boat at 0900 hours (9am) and set course for Solovetski Archipelago At 1100 hours (11am) you will disembark on
Bolshoi Solovetski Island. The trip will include
- Excursion to the monastery
- Lunch in a local restaurant
- Further sightseeing of Solovetski Monastery
- Overnight accommodation in a hotel
- Dinner.
We offer several options for additional sightseeing:
- boat trip along Solovetski canals
- visit to Solovetski Botanical Garden
- excursion to Sekirni Skit on Mt. Sekirnaya.
Day 2 In the morning, options for further sightseeing include visit to the islands Bolshoi Zayatski, Nemetski Kuzov, Russki Kuzov or Anzerski Kuzov (including an excursion to Mount Golgotha)
At 17:00 hours (5pm) the boat leaves for the return trip, with the car transfer from Kem arriving back at the dive centre at 22:00 hours (10pm).
